“Commune” By Crafted Hospitality

About The Event ….
As apart of a multi-chef series, “Commune” by Tom Colicchio was a dinner program intended on highlighting strong culinary voices that do not have a brick and mortar restaurant space. Through the series of several weeks chef’s Omar Tate, Gabriela Maria Álvarez-Martinez, Eric Adjepong & Moosh’s own Behzad Jamshidi were given the opportunity to collaborate with Chef Tom Colicchio on a multicourse dinner and an evening centered around conversation. Through various multisensory method and original poetry, courses were presented to capture the Iranian density and culture in a capacity that is often skewed and under-represented in media.
The evening followed a theme set forth from Chef Jamshidi’s migration story, as it related to his parents dramatic fleaing of Iran during the revolution and his transition into New York City as an 18 year old. Like the common food programs at Moosh, each course was presented with a story that further enriched and gave context for the course being consumed. Proceeds from the event went to Home Storytellers, an organization producing multimedia resources to help campaign and fundraise for various refugee & immigrant relief programs across the world.
